«Meet the Team»: Bahar Büyükkavir

Welcome, Bahar Büyükkavir who joined the ten-strong NZZ Content Creation team at NZZone almost six months ago as the third graphic designer 🌟 Born in Winterthur of Turkish heritage, in her professional life she has always been a part-time self-employed designer as well as holding permanent positions as a graphic or UX/UI designer at the same time. Bahar designed the layout for the street paper «Surprise» and helped to relaunch the «SonntagsZeitung», playing a part in its award as the «European Newspaper of the Year» in 2014.

What do you like doing most of all?

Everything that has to do with music. Eating, travelling, hiking. And working with my hands: I build furniture, sew clothes, crochet, knit, embroider, make pottery…

Is the glass half full or half empty for you?

I have learnt that life is more worth living if you always consider that the glass is half full.

What keeps you going?

Hiking in the mountains, long walks with my dog and spending time with friends – hopefully accompanied by good food 😉

What did you want to be when you were a child?

I don’t know which came first – astronaut or artist.

How would your work colleagues describe you?

I’d also like to know that – or rather not.

Besides your current job, what do you do so well that people would pay you for it?

I’m really a «jack of all trades, master of none». But the glass is always half full.
