From party decoration to sustainable bag

At the beginning of September 2024, NZZone and audienzz celebrated their Summer End Party it was cheerful, exuberant and in true British style under the motto «Cheers and Chatter». Two huge, colourful PVC tarpaulins adorned the event area: a kaleidoscope of British icons from the Queen with her dogs to legendary actors and sportsmen and the UK’s biggest music stars. But after the party, it was clear that this tarpaulin should not simply be disposed of. Instead, its second journey began.

In the Pigna workshop, a social institution where people with disabilities work with creativity and commitment, the PVC tarpaulin was cleaned, cut into manageable pieces and transformed into a new design. The outcome? Stylish, robust and unique shopping bags – each with an individual cut-out of the former party decoration.

Every bag tells a story. What once adorned an event area has been crafted into a useful accessory. Each piece is unique – a part of the Summer End Party lives on in it.

This project shows how sustainability and social participation can go hand in hand. The employees of the Pigna workshop have not only contributed their creativity, but have also created something of value – for themselves and for the new owners of the bags. At the same time, it reduces the waste of resources and promotes upcycling.

And now you come into play! Would you like to win one of these coveted bags? Then follow us on LinkedIn – the competition starts soon!
